About

We love old houses, and historic preservation, and making things beautiful – especially things that someone gave up on.

We live in Franklin, Indiana, where we are restoring a large Queen Anne Victorian in the Martin Place Historic District. You can follow along with our restoration with our blog at vivaciousvictorian.com !

Our passion for historic lighting came from a need to find pieces that fit with the era of our home. Vintage and antique lighting made such a difference in the feel of our house, and we also fell in love with the actual act of restoration – the cleaning, restoring, and re-wiring. Soon, we began collecting lighting pieces from many eras – not just for our home, but for friends who were restoring homes, and also to sell on commission at Madison Street Salvage, the Architectural Salvage Shop in our town. Madison Street Salvage raises funds for historic preservation here in Franklin, Indiana, as part of Franklin Heritage. We are thrilled to combine our love of lighting with a way to raise money to save older homes in our community!

As requests for help with historic lighting grew, we decided to start Revive Vintage Lighting to help others who are in the midst of restoration find the perfect lighting for their home.

Amy and Doug
Amy and Doug

By day, Amy is a conductor and high school band director. She loves design, and is definitely the creative force of the two! She has degrees from The University of Akron, and Butler University.

Doug is a Software Engineer, a proud alum of Purdue University, a fine trombone player, and a runner of way too many marathons to count. He is the practical, methodical one.

What can we do?

  • Locate complete fixtures that match the era of your home (or, another era!)
  • Source parts for incomplete fixtures
  • Restore and clean any fixture you may have
  • Refinish fixtures
  • Re-wire and modernize all electrical in any fixture
  • Install lighting fixtures
  • Source and custom paint ceiling medallions

We started by falling in love with old houses, and not wanting to pay for things we thought we could do ourselves – if we failed, we could always call someone. Amy is the imagination, the drive, and the vision. He is the practicality, the sense, and the knowledge. It’s a great team. And we’re so excited to continue our work with vintage lighting to help other people.

Let us know how we can help!
